Who Inspires SGNA Members?
During GI Nurses and Associates Week, SGNA members revealed who some of their biggest inspirations have been in their professional lives.
My immediate supervisor. Besides professionalism and good work ethics, she inspires me to be the best I can be in the field of nursing.
- Joan Covas, Baxter Regional Medical Center, Mountain Home, Arkansas
James Sinnott MD, Gastroenterologist was an amazing teacher. He cross-trained me in GI Endoscopy from a physician’s point of view. Through him, I learned the pathophysiology behind every little action that I make during procedures.
- Kimberly Conner
The nurses and techs that work every day with this population.
- Marianne Saunders, Endoscopy ASF at Penn Medicine at Radnor
The dedicated group of physicians I've worked with over the past 10 years inspires me. They've supported me in learning by being willing teachers. They appreciate and support me in my endeavors in taking the SGNA associate course and now being in the two-year Champion program.
- Deborah Smith, RMA, GTS, Eaton Rapids Medical Center, Eaton Rapids, Michigan
Every nurse before me. It’s a hard work, long hours and dedication to our patients sometimes came before my own family.
- Donna Berry, RN CGRN, Nazareth Hospital, Philadelphia
Erica Natal our Clinical Administrator and June Lafferty our Clinic Manager. They both have taught me so much about how to look at the entire picture in a situation and to think outside the box. They have both taught me the true meaning of compassionate patient care and how to figure out exactly what the patient needs in that situation.
- Alana Hernandez, Rockford Gastroenterology
The “Lady in Charge” of course! Clara Barton is a huge inspiration because of the passion she had to serve others. Beginning the American Red Cross has saved and changed the lives of so many people for over a century now! To leave just a fraction of the impact Clara Barton has left is what I inspire to do.
- Meagan Horter, Aurora Southern Lakes, Burlington Wisconsin
