What Does SGNA Mean to You?
For many members, SGNA is a place to learn from others, advance professionally and even create lifelong friendships. In a survey earlier this year, we asked SGNA members how the association has impacted them professionally. Here are just a few responses from your peers.
Opportunities for Leadership and Growth
“SGNA involvement has provided me with the necessary education to provide the best patient care. Through networking opportunities I have gained mentors and friends. I have also grown as a leader and have been able to give back to my profession and my association. I can reach out to any number of SGNA members and quickly find out their current practice – usually along with the evidence to back the process up.” – Michelle Day, MSN BSN RN CGRN, Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT
A Place to Share Common Interests
“To share my love for GI with so many others brings me comfort. I'm not the only one that loves GI. I was honored to be on the Education committee and locally on the state Board. I'm being honored to give back a small part of the years of joy, love, knowledge and experience.” – Aileen L., UCLA Medical Center Medical Procedures Unit
A Sense of Immediate Connection
“I have been able to network with many different nurses and staff in the GI specialty through SGNA. You meet people from all over the United States coming from all different backgrounds. It is great to be able to share ideas and ask questions with others in the same specialty. There is this sense of connection almost immediately because you understand what they are talking about. It takes a special person to be in the GI specialty.” – Donna Berry, RN CGRN, Nazareth Hospital, Philadelphia, PA
Access to Resources That Improve Processes
“I'm a member of the two-year Champion Program. SGNA offers me a great deal of education and resources which I'm able to share with my team. We've been able to improve our endoscopy processes because of these resources. I've also become a better GI tech with the opportunities given to me through SGNA. I smile when I see the caption "Proud to be GI" because I truly am.” – Glenna Verdugo, RN CGRN
