Taking the Lead in Patient-Centered Care
In our latest Be the Spark video, Karen Wilson, MSN RN CGRN, shares how she implemented change at her hospital to allow for greater patient-centered care.
When Karen became the chair of the Nursing Practice Council at her hospital, she shifted the council’s charge from reviewing data and reports to an elected nursing senate, which effected change in nursing practice. By the end of her term, nurses were using evidence-based practice to enact change.
Watch the video below to hear more from Karen, including how her hospital achieved magnet status in 2017 and continues to keep patients and families at the center of everything they do.
Be the Spark is an original SGNA video series that showcases members who have taken their careers to the next level and are “sparks” within their organization. Be sure to watch Karen’s video on her role as an SGNA Infection Prevention Champion here, plus catch Nancy Schlossberg’s story on how she has helped enact legislative change around colorectal cancer awareness.
